Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology
Program Objectives

Counseling psychology has long held the value of social justice as central to its identity. This value is characterized by recognition of the relationship between oppressive social structures and the experience of distress among those unequally advantaged within society.

The Counseling Psychology Program at Carlow University is anchored by a framework informed by social justice and feminism. The framework is actualized within the program through curricular elements that promote analysis of and action to change sociopolitical structures. The following program objectives are in support of training practitioners of psychology who are especially well-prepared to affect change in sociopolitical systems and meet the needs of underserved client populations.
