Program Overview
Elementary Education Concentration/Certification
The Master of Education degree with a concentration/certification in elementary education is a 36-credit degree program for practicing teachers, plus an additional six credits of student teaching for prospective teachers who want elementary certification. The core of the program includes child development, exceptionalities of development, alternative methods of teaching, aesthetics, content area teaching of reading, math, science, social studies, research and technology, and practicum experience. The overarching educational goal of the program is to enhance the graduate’s understanding of the learning process of various cognitive styles in order to implement effective learning experiences that meet the varying needs of all children.
