School of Education graduates are making their mark on the field of education in many ways. Here are just a few examples of the extraordinary work they are doing.
Three Carlow graduates in the Instructional Technology Specialist Certification Program were selected as 2004 'Keystone Technology Integrators' in Pennsylvania: |
- Ryan Casciotti from North Allegheny School District
- Gina Oliphant from Providence (and Adjunct Faculty at Carlow)
- Janet Powell from Monteau School District
Keystones is a new program that celebrates model practice teachers throughout Pennsylvania. These teachers use technology to foster student curiosity and creativity and engage students in meaningful problem-solving activities. They share the joy of teaching with their colleagues and promote collaboration and communication in their learning communities.
Two graduates of the M.Ed program in Early Childhood Education whose work has been published: |
- Rae Ann Hirsh, a 1999 graduate and currently an adjunct faculty member, developed her master's thesis into a book on early childhood curriculum, titled: Early Childhood Curriculum: Incorporating Multiple Intelligence Theory, Developmentally Appropriate Practice, and Play.
- Maryah Spahr, a 2003 graduate of the ECE master's program and a teacher in Carlow's Child Care Center, had an article published in the most recent issue of the Association of Childhood Education International. The article, "Toward Cultural Competence for Young Children and Their Teachers," was adapted from her master's thesis on the same topic.
