The School of Nursing at Carlow University offers the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. The DNP curriculum focuses on providing a leadership role in evidence-based advanced practice.
Students gain competencies in translating research into practice, evaluating current evidence, and applying research findings in decision making. The emphasis is on leading the implementation of transformational change in their area of practice. Completion of the program prepares graduates to practice in a variety of advanced practice leadership roles.
PROGRAM FORMAT
Classes are hybrid in format, combining a low residency requirement (average of two Saturdays per term on the Oakland campus) with extensive online facilitation.
Students may complete the 30-credit program in a twenty month period, taking 2-3 classes per term. Six of the credits are comprised of elective credits, allowing students to determine a personal focus of interest from a variety of graduate level offerings.
